Over time, windscreen wipers become less effective at removing rain, dirt, and snow from your windscreen. If you notice that your windscreen wipers are becoming less effective, you should replace them before it becomes dangerous to drive. We recommend changing your windscreen wipers every 12-24 months.
Firstly, you need to purchase the right-sized windscreen wiper blades for your car. Your car manual should have the details of what size wipers you will need. The right and the left wiper blades may be different sizes so it’s important to know the measurements of both.
Then, raise both of the wiper arms away from the glass until they’re in a position where they stay still. Windscreen wipers are spring-loaded so be careful that they don’t snap back and damage your windscreen. It may even be a good idea to place a folded towel on the windscreen to add some protection in case this happens.
You should now be able to access the connector where the wiper blade meets the wiper arm. To unhook your wiper blade first turn the wiper blades 90 degrees. If there is a stopper/clip holding the blade in place then press or unclip this to remove the wiper blade. If your wiper blade is attached by a hook, slide the wiper blade down to remove the blade from the hook.
The way that you remove your older wiper blade may vary slightly depending on your car model and the type of windscreen wipers you have. If you require more information on removing your wiper blades, you should be able to find this online.
Now you’re ready to attach the new wiper blade to the wiper arm. Face the rubber part of the wiper blade towards the windscreen. Gently place the new wiper blade onto the same place you removed the old wiper and attach it to the hook. You should hear a click/snap which indicates the wiper blade is fastened securely. Gently place the wipers back onto the windscreen.
Finally, give your new wiper blades a test. They should be working smoothly, quietly and leave your windscreen streak-free.
